Report: Ohio State QB Tate Martell is in NCAA transfer portal

Less than a month after he took shots at freshman quarterback Justin Fields for transferring, Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Tate Martell is reportedly now in the NCAA transfer portal.

According to Kyle Rowland of The Blade, Martell is in the NCAA’s transfer portal and can now speak to other programs about transferring away from Ohio State.

This news comes just days after Fields transferred to Ohio State and spent time with Dwayne Haskins and Urban Meyer at one of Ohio State’s basketball games.

Martell, a redshirt freshman who saw limited playing time this season, previously told reporters he would not consider transferring even with Fields move to Ohio State.

“Why would I leave for somebody that hasn’t put a single second into this program yet?” Martell said, via Bill Rabinowitz. “I’ve put two years of literally working my ass off into something I’ve been working for and a dream I’ve had my whole life.”

Clearly, Martell’s tune has changed significantly and he is now contemplating transferring from Ohio State. Let’s hope he doesn’t swing and miss, especially on his second time, if he does transfer.
