NFL still reviewing Reuben Foster matter after charges were dropped

49ers linebacker Reuben Foster

Linebacker Reuben Foster and the Washington Redskins got some good news on Thursday when authorities in Florida announced that charges of domestic violence against the former San Francisco 49ers first-round pick have been dropped.

There’s not a whole lot more information out regarding why the charges were dropped. This is the second time in a calendar year that Foster has faced domestic violence charges, only to see said charges dropped. He’s also dealt with gun and marijuana possession charges since entering he NFL back in 2017.

The NFL has now released a statement regarding Thursday’s news. It’s pretty much a run of the mill statement from the league.

Despite charges being dropped, Foster still faces disciplinary action from the NFL. Remember, he was suspended for the first to games of the 2018 season by the league.

None of this is going to change the NFL’s investigation into the matter. And until more information comes out regarding why charges were dropped, it’s not safe to say Foster’s career is safe.

San Francisco promptly moved on from Foster after he was arrested at the team hotel prior to a late-November game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Washington itself received a lot of flack for picking Foster up off waivers mere days after he was arrested.
