Baseball fans hoping to see a blockbuster three-team deal between the New York Mets, New York Yankees  and Miami Marlins will have to be patient.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, progress is not being made on the deal.

Any (or all) of the potential teams being hesitant would not be surprising.

While J.T. Realmuto wouldn’t seem to have any long-term future in Miami, the Marlins don’t need to rush to trade him. He’s under contract through the 2020 season. There’s also a great deal of interest in him. So, Miami can take it’s time to be sure the right deal comes.

This trade could also mean the end of Miguel Andujar’s tenure with the Yankees. He hit .297/.328/.527 with 27 home runs. Trading that productive of a player would always be tough. This is especially true when he put up those numbers as a rookie and is a potential cornerstone for the future of the franchise.

Should the Mets acquire Realmuto, they’d likely have to give up on Noah Syndergaard, Amed Rosario, or both. Syndergaard has been a top-tier starter since his first day with the Mets, while Rosario is seen as the shortstop of the future.

There are a lot of big moving parts to this potential deal. We wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen. But any of these teams getting cold feet is only natural.
