Report: Lakers ‘prepared’ for LeBron James to miss several games

The Los Angeles Lakers received some good news on Wednesday relating to injured star LeBron James.

James pulled up lame in the third quarter of Tuesday’s game against the Golden State Warriors with a groin injury. An MRI the day after showed it to be nothing more than a groin strain. Los Angeles officially listed James as day-to-day.

Now comes this report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst indicating that the Lakers are prepared for James to miss several games.

At issue here is James’ inexperience dealing with a groin injury as severe as this. For the most part, the game’s best player has been healthy throughout his career. Groin injuries tend to linger and the Lakers don’t want to rush James back.

Remember, the Warriors’ Stephen Curry missed three weeks earlier this season with a groin injury of his own. Golden State took its time to return Curry to the court because, like James, he had not dealt with a similar injury in his career.

We fully expect the Lakers to play it close to the vest with James. And as noted in the report, there’s no real timeline for his return to the court.
