The Philadelphia Phillies are hosting the New York Mets for a double-header on Thursday. It’s safe to say that Game 1 did not go well for the home team.
The Mets, too often on the wrong side of the joke, came alive to beat the tar out of the Phillies.
That's one for the record books! #MetsWin

Even Philadelphia’s Twitter feed couldn’t help but have some fun at the absurdity of it all.

Plenty of other people joined in on the fun, both during and after the game.
The Mets lead 22-4 in the 8th. The Phillies have used an outfielder (Roman Quinn) and an infielder (Scott Kingery) to pitch in the last two innings. Jerry Blevins just got his first major league hit.

The Phillies have allowed 10 unearned runs in a game for the first time since 1923, according to @baseball_ref.

Hey @Phillies thanks for keeping us fans entertained through the spring and most of the summer, now it’s time for some @Eagles and it couldn’t come any sooner as the season is quickly turning into pic.twitter.com/XYAE4TzTgd

The two teams play once more on Thursday, then three more times over the weekend. The next four games certainly have a tough act to follow.
