Yankees have reportedly asked Rays about Chris Archer

Boasting would could ultimately be a record-setting lineup, the New York Yankees have turned their attention to the starting rotation ahead of next week’s non-waiver trade deadline.

It’s already known that the Yankees are not happy with Sonny Gray and may look to move him if there’s an upgrade on the market.

Now, according to this one report, New York has asked the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays about ace pitcher Chris Archer.

Archer’s availability on the trade market is an open question. Tampa Bay is drawing significant interest in the former All-Star. But it remains to be seen if the team will really move him.

Archer, 29, is pitching to a 3-4 record with a 4.30 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 16 starts this season. He just recently came off the disabled list with an abdominal strain and has made two shortened starts since being activated. That could also make things a bit more difficult on this front.
