On Sunday during Lap 68 of the Indy 500, Danica Patrick crashed out of the race as her car hit the outside wall, spun around and rolled backward toward the infield area.
It was a very bitter way to end her racing career, as Patrick has made it clear the Indy 500 was her final professional race. Not surprisingly, she was a bit emotional afterward as she explained what happened following her release from the Infield hospital.

Patrick, who broke down gender barriers in racing in a big way, also saw her NASCAR finale end in a crash as well.
It’s obviously not the way she dreamed her career in racing, but there are so many factors outside the control of these drivers, and we’re just happy she got away from both wrecks unscathed.
