Twitter reacts to Marlins giving up 17 runs in four innings

The Miami Marlins are not a good baseball team. In fact, mere minutes into their season opener late last month, Marlins fans let the team know that first-hand.

Heading into Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Miami had lost five of its first seven. We can now pretty much make that six of eight. Even before the first four innings were up at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, the Marlins had given up a whopping 17 runs. That includes five in the first, four in the third and another eight runs in the fourth.

Marlins starter Dillon Peters was tagged for nine earned runs in 2.2 innings. He was ultimately replaced by Jacob Turner, who gave up eight earned runs in just one inning of work.

Needless to say, Marlins fans and those around the baseball world had some rather interesting reactions to this humiliating performance. Here are some of the best from the Twitter world.

Just for giggles, Philadelphia added two more runs to make it 19-1 heading into the seventh.

Fun.
