Nonprofit group launching #Helmets4Heroes2018 campaign to benefit ill children

Last year, we were honored to share a story with our readers about a young girl named MacKenzie Asher, who lost her life after battling leukemia. She was a huge Oklahoma Sooners fan and touched Heisman winner Baker Mayfield so much that he dedicated the rest of his final season at college to her after she passed.

A completely volunteer-run nonprofit organization, Special Spectators, facilitated that special relationship between MacKenzie, Mayfield and the Sooners.

This group has helped over 10,000 significantly ill children to experience joy in their lives by inviting and hosting them at VIP all-access college football game day experiences, partnering with 45 FBS schools.

Now, Special Spectators is running a new fundraising campaign, #Helmets4Heroes2018, that is going to help propel their program to reach even more children.

Quite aside from the main goal of helping young ones meet their favorite players and experience some truly amazing moments with these teams, there’s an added bonus for anyone interested in contributing to this campaign. People who donate $25 to the campaign will be automatically entered to win some incredible pieces of sports memorabilia — helmets, signed by legendary coaches or players.

Even without these items, the cause is worthy. If you would like to be a part of this incredible #Helmets4Heroes2018 fundraiser, then please do visit the Special Spectators website and pitch in.
