Andre Ingram calls 19-point Lakers debut ‘once in a lifetime’

You only have one chance to make a first impression. It’s hard to say the Los Angeles Lakers will be forgetting Andre Ingram anytime soon.

The G League’s all-time leader in three-pointers made, Ingram buried his first five shots — including three from long distance — Tuesday night. The 32-year-old ended his NBA debut with 19 points.

“I just felt some electricity out there,” Ingram said, per Ty Nowell of Lakers.com. “It was amazing. The crowd, the lights — it was once in a lifetime.”

Ingram has quickly become a fan favorite, most evidenced by the “MVP” chants that accompanied a trip to the free-throw line.

Without a doubt, he’ll never experience another moment like Tuesday. But there’s now a growing feeling that Ingram, a career 46.1 three-point shooter in the G League, is worthy of an NBA roster spot.

Checking into an NBA game might become just another night in Ingram’s career. And after 10 seasons grinding in the D/G League, there couldn’t be a better next chapter to his remarkable story.
