Adam Vinatieri takes veiled shot at Ryan Grigson discussing new contract

It’s safe to say Pat McAfee isn’t the only guy who was happy to see former Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson get the boot last year. After inking a new contract with Colts, 45-year-old kicker Adam Vinatieri took a veiled shot at Grigson.

According to Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star, Vinatieri said, “This process was substantially easier than it was a couple of years ago.”

Of course, he was referring to the contentious battle he and Grigson had, due to the fact Grigson didn’t want to sign the kicker to a two-year contract. Grigson was known to be very difficult to work with.

Obviously, Vinatieri, a future Hall of Famer, is happy to now be working with Chris Ballard, who was excited to bring him back for 23rd NFL season.

“Adam is one the best players in NFL history and we are excited to keep him in Indianapolis,” Colts general manager Chris Ballard said. “He continues to play at a high level and his experience and production are valuable assets for our team. Adam is the consummate pro and a key leader in our locker room.”

Another person who was thrilled to bring Vinatieri back was owner Jim Irsay, who called him “The G.O.A.T.”
