WATCH: Al Pacino as Joe Paterno trailer is everything

Bob Shoop, Jay Paterno, Penn State THON, Nittany Lions

HBO will bring the entire Joe Paterno and Penn State scandal to the small screen this upcoming spring. The film, simply titled Paterno, will star Acadamey Award winning actor and legend Al Pacino in the title role.

And it looks to be all sorts of awesome.

The backstory here is obviously Paterno’s involvement in the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal that ultimately cost Paterno his job in Happy Valley back in 2011 after nearly a half century in that role.

Pacino playing a role of this ilk for HBO is nothing new. Back in 2010, he starred as Jack Kevorkian in the film You Don’t Know Jack, a role that earned Pacino both an Emmy and a Golden Globe award for best lead actor.

This movie is sure to bring back memories of the end of Paterno’s tenure at Penn State as well as his death the following year. It’s something we’re definitely going to be paying attention to once the movie is released later this year.
