LeSean McCoy only stretches before leaving practice

The Buffalo Bills are preparing for the franchise’s first playoff game in 18 years, but the status of star running back LeSean McCoy is still uncertain.

After missing Wednesday’s workout, McCoy returned to the practice field Thursday. He didn’t stay long, though. Joe Buscaglia of WKBW shared a video of McCoy heading to the athletic trainer’s room after stretching.

Buffalo is already concerned about McCoy, so the biggest question is whether this was a gradual increase in activity for the injured running back. ESPN’s Mike Rodak believes that to be the case, rather than a setback.

McCoy was carted off the field in Week 17 and reportedly has a sprained ankle. Head coach Sean McDermott said McCoy has a “chance” to play Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Both the Bills and McCoy have little reason to force a workout, so it would make sense if this was a planned move. Buffalo needs at him as close to full strength as possible, and he doesn’t need practice reps to prove anything.

McCoy’s availability is the biggest story of wild-card weekend.
