The Arizona Cardinals remain in playoff contention heading into the final weeks of the season. As the team works toward that goal, starting quarterback Carson Palmer is trying to get back into action after suffering an injury to his non-throwing arm that required surgery.
Carson Palmer said his rehab is on schedule. No assurance he will play this season but he wants to try.

When Palmer was placed on IR back in October, the Cardinals expected him to miss the remainder of the season, along with running back David Johnson (more on that here).
Not much has changed on that front. Head coach Bruce Arians said he’s not getting his hopes up for Palmer or Johnson to return.
BA says he is not counting on any of his IR guys returning. Doesn’t want to get his hopes up

While Palmer has been out, his backup Drew Stanton was also injured, leading the team to lean on veteran Blaine Gabbert, who’s actually performed quite well. So well, in fact, that Arians recently said he wouldn’t be opposed to having Gabbert as the starter next season.
Before getting injured, Palmer wasn’t at the top of his game. He had thrown nine touchdowns and seven interceptions in seven games, completing 61.4 percent of his passes for 1,978 yards.
