Jaguars’ Blake Bortles has sage advice for DeShone Kizer

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles has been there before. His first three NFL seasons were defined by mistakes while starting for a bottom-feeding team.

Now with his Jaguars in first place and the quarterback in the midst of a breakout season, Bortles himself is being looked to for advice.

In talking about his Week 11 opponent, DeShone Kizer and the winless Cleveland Browns, Bortles himself had some words of wisdom for the rookie signal caller.

“Try to throw it to your team as much as possible,” Bortles said, via Mike Kaye of First Coast News.

Albeit common sense in nature, that would definitely qualify as good advice. After throwing 51 interceptions in his first three NFL seasons, Bortles knows something about failing to actually throw the ball to his own team.

For his part, Kizer is coming off the best performance of his career in a Week 10 loss to Detroit. He completed 21-of-37 passes for 232 yards with two total touchdowns and one interception. Prior to that, the Notre Dame product had thrown three touchdowns compared to 11 picks on the season.

Actually throwing the ball to his teammates might prove difficult Sunday against a Jaguars defense that ranks first in the NFL stopping the pass and has yielded a 65.9 quarterback rating on the season.
