Colts’ Jacoby Brissett clears concussion protocol, will star Sunday

Jacoby Brissett

The Indianapolis Colts will have Jacoby Brissett back on the field for their game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. After suffering a concussion prior to the team’s Week 11 bye, Brissett has passed through the protocol and will start this week.

“Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett passed the final concussion evaluation and will start against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday,” ESPN’s Mike Wells reported Saturday.

Since taking over the starting job back in Week 2, Brissett has been one of the few surprises for an otherwise horrible Colts team this season. He’s completing 61 percent of his passes for 2,172 yards with 12 total touchdowns and five interceptions in nine starts this season.

Having Brissett healthy for the remainder of the season will be big for Indianapolis. We’re still not sure when Andrew Luck will return after being placed on IR earlier in November.

But considering he has not thrown a pass since New Year’s Day, there has to be some concern about whether Luck will ever be the same again.

It’s in this that the Colts need to view a larger sample size from Brissett moving forward. If not to consider him a starter for next season, then to build up a potential market in a trade after this season.
