Steve Spurrier shades former rival LSU with hilarious quote

From his time as the head coach at Florida and South Carolina, the retired Steve Spurrier spent nearly a quarter century going up against LSU. His stint with the Gators included a rivalry on a national stage with LSU that we have no seen from the two teams since.

To say Spurrier has some hard feelings about the men from Baton Rouge would be an understatement. And that came out in a big way recently, with the former Heisman winner lofting a ton of shade the Tigers’ way.

Whew.

To be fair, Spurrier isn’t necessarily wrong here. Despite finding themselves as a top-10 team at one point in each of the past 17 seasons, LSU has earned two national titles during that span. This very same time has seen 19 former Tigers players selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

As it relates to Spurrier, he earned one national title and six SEC championships during his long tenure as a college football head coach. Maybe he should look in the mirror with that one national title and question why his teams didn’t win more. Just a thought.
