Tony Romo reiterates he’s ‘done’ with football

If we needed a definite answer as to whether former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is done playing in the NFL, this pretty much sums things up.

Romo appeared on NFL Total Access when he officially put the lid on his 13-year NFL career. But first he had us going.

“Oh yeah, probably a good chance. We’ll see how it plays out. I think you’ll find — I’m joking,” Romo said, per Marc Sessler of NFL.com, rolling his eyes and laughing. “Like I said before, I’m done.”

Here we have it. It had been speculated by some that Romo might make a surprise return to the NFL, despite taking a job at CBS Sports. But, he set that record straight on Wednesday.

For now, Romo is focusing on the next chapter of his life, which consists of football behind the scenes.

“I’m pretty happy and excited about the opportunity that was presented to me,” Romo said. “I got coach [and veteran CBS play-by-play man] Jim Nantz teaching me all the tricks of the trade that I’m going to be behind on, but I’m improving fast.”

Romo will retire having played in 156 total games for the Dallas Cowboys. He passed for 34,183 yards and 248 touchdowns along the way.

The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback will surely be missed on the field by many after leading America’s team from 2006-2015.
