Report: Chauncey Billups withdraws from consideration for Cavaliers job

Portland Trail Blazers hire Chauncey Billups

Chauncey Billups will not be the next President of Basketball Operations for the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Billups had gone through a number of interviews with Cleveland for the job that opened up when Dan Gilbert fired general manager David Griffin. It’s uncertain where the Cavs will look now that Billups has decided he’d rather play for the BIG3 than take on the front office job in Cleveland.

An organization that made lots of waves via the rumor mill about potential big deals to improve its roster, suddenly Cleveland is up a creek without a paddle. All the rumors turned out to have no substance, as the Cavaliers have managed very little to this point to get better.

This can’t bode well for Cleveland’s attempt to keep LeBron James from bolting next year.
