Report: Klay Thompson signs 10-year, $80 million endorsement deal

Klay Thompson

Reigning NBA champion Klay Thompson has been having some fun in China over the past week. He was seen missing horribly on this 360-dunk attempt. Then later in the week, the All-Star showed off his dance moves at a night club in China.

Needless to say, life is good for the two-time champion.

We can now add $80 million more reasons why Klay should be enjoying his recent popularity.

According to Nick DePaula over at Nice Kicks, Thompson has signed a 10-year, $80 million extension to continue endorsing the China-based Anta shoe company.

“The long-term footwear and apparel endorsement deal, struck by Thompson’s Wasserman agent Greg Lawrence, Senior Vice President of Basketball, along with his business manager Joe McLean, will land the explosive sharpshooter among the top 10 highest earning sneaker endorsers among all NBA players,” DePaula reported. “The deal could reach 10 years and $80 Million, with a variety of incentives incorporated into the contract, and will continue to grow his brand throughout both China and the US.”

That’s a whole heck of a lot of cash right there. Needless to say, Thompson won’t be wanting for money any time soon. On the court, he’s set to earn $36-plus million over the next two seasons.

After that, it would not be a shock to see Thompson find himself in the $200-million club when he either re-signs with Golden State or moves on in free agency.
