When Chase Utley arrived in Los Angeles, he was reunited with Jimmy Rollins who spent time as Utley’s partner-in-crime in the mid-infield in Philly. When they were in Southern California, Utley grew accustomed to working with 2016 Rookie of the Year Corey Seager, and it seemed to work well for the duo.

The 38-year-old Utley has a rather impressive resume. Six All-Star roster spots, four Silver Slugger Awards, 14 seasons to his name. One of the most-impressive things to fall into Utley’s lap is a compliment from Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts.

According to Dodger Insider, Roberts called Utley his “favorite player of all time” at the recent baseball scouts foundation dinner. The 2016 National League Manager of the Year managed Utley for two seasons and has seen his fair share of baseball. So while two years as the head guy may not seem like a massive amount, Roberts still had a decade of playing in the majors.

What a compliment.

Utley is finishing a 2016 campaign with a .252/.319/.396 line where he hit in 14 home runs and 52 RBI’s. He signed a one-year contract worth $7 million bringing him back to the Dodgers in 2016.
