Report: Patriots RB Dion Lewis expected to play Sunday

New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis has not suited up for an actual football game since early November of last year. Lewis initially suffered a torn ACL in his last game against the Washington Redskins in Week 8 of last season. While rehabbing that injury, Lewis then suffered a patella stress fracture.

After practicing for the past week, it now looks like Lewis will return to the field Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks.

This is definitely welcomed news for the Patriots, who have been relying a great deal on LeGarrette Blount thus far this season. For his part, Blount seems to be really excited to have his backfield partner back in the mix.

This should definitely add another dimension to the Patriots’ offense. Lewis surprised the NFL world before going down to injury last season, posting 622 total yards and four touchdowns in seven games. Despite missing over half the season, Lewis was still able to put up 36 receptions for 388 yards.

With him back in the mix, an already dominant Patriots offense should take off even more. It’s also perfect timing with the team set to take on one of the top defenses in the NFL on Sunday Night Football.
