Cody Kessler to start for Browns against Cowboys

Cody Kessler

The Cleveland Browns will try to win their first game of the season in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys with rookie Cody Kessler behind center.

The team announced on Twitter Friday that the rookie would be leading the offense this week.

This move could be considered a bit puzzling, considering the fact that Josh McCown is healthy. However, despite his status as the team’s veteran quarterback, it isn’t hard to argue that Kessler has actually played better than McCown this year.

Now that the rookie out of USC has been cleared to play following his concussion, the Browns are making a smart move.

Kessler has completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 947 yards with four touchdowns and only one interception this year. He’s been efficient and has helped the Browns stay highly competitive in the five games he’s played in this year.

He’s also had good chemistry with receiver Terrelle Pryor and tight end Gary Barnidge.

But will his presence help the Browns finally get off the schneid this year against the Cowboys? We can’t wait to see.
