Dallas Police Department determines Aqib Talib shot himself

Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was involved in a nightclub shooting in Dallas back in June. In what was an investigation that originally involved the possibility that Talib himself was the victim of a shooting, it became apparent that the Dallas Police Department was looking into the idea that Talib accidentally shot himself.

Now, months removed from the incident, the local authorities have completed their investigation, concluding that Talib did in fact shoot himself.

There’s a whole heck of a lot to look at here.

First off, even if Talib did have a permit for a concealed weapon, it is illegal in the state of Texas to discharge a firearm in a public place. If there was no concern for his livelihood, Talib himself could be charged with a crime.

Secondly, the NFL had previously indicated it was looking into the matter. In this, it really doesn’t matter what Texas law says. If the league concludes that Talib violated the personal conduct policy, he could be subject to a suspension.

This all comes with Talib playing the best football of what has already been a stellar career. He’s coming off a two interception performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is one of the primary reasons the defending champion Broncos sit at 4-0 on the season.
