Jimmy Garoppolo exits game with shoulder injury

The New England Patriots are now relying on rookie third-round Jacoby Brissett to hold down the fort under center.

This comes after Jimmy Garoppolo exited late in the second quarter of the team’s game against the Miami Dolphins with a right shoulder injury.

As with most injuries that take place during a game, we don’t yet know the extent of Garoppolo’s injury. What we do know is that the Patriots will be in trouble should it prove to be serious.

Remember, Tom Brady is suspended for the first four games of the season due to his alleged role in the Deflategate scandal.

Should Garoppolo miss any time, that would force the Patriots to go with a rookie quarterback until Brady returns from suspension.

Garoppolo, a third-year pro, was dominating Miami’s defense at the time of the injury — completing 18-of-27 passes for 234 yards with three touchdowns and zero picks.

For now, the young quarterback is questionable to return. Considering it’s his throwing shoulder, there should be some concern here. That’s only magnified by the fact that he was seen in a lot of pain before heading to the locker room.

We will have updates as soon as they become available.
