Report: Rockets get warning for Dwight Howard Stickum

Dwight Howard

The Houston Rockets are reportedly getting off with a warning after Dwight Howard’s Stickum incident.

The NBA is sending out a league-wide memo “clarifying adhesive substances” are not permitted, and the Rockets will not be disciplined as a result of Howard’s use of the sticky product, per Mark Berman of Fox26 in Houston.

This makes perfect sense. After all, Howard has been using the product every night, and the question of its legality had never before been asked about by anyone.

In fact, Howard said as much after the game in which it was removed from the bench and he was informed it was illegal.

“I’ve been using it for the last five years,” Howard said. “It hasn’t been a problem. I don’t know why people are making a big deal out of it. I do it every game. It’s not a big deal. I ain’t even tripping.”

The NBA clearly realized that nobody was really informed on the issue and made the right call to simply let the Rockets off with a warning on this one.

Going forward, though, perhaps Howard should go the way of LeBron James and simply use bucketloads of powder to help his grip, instead.
