Running back Chris Johnson will never forget why he has a gruesome-looking bullet hole scar on his left shoulder. He was shot in March when a car pulled up to his vehicle at a red light and began firing. Tragically, his friend Dreekius Oricko Johnson was killed in the shooting.

The horrible event is one in which Johnson has needed much time to get past.

Johnson posted a picture on his Instagram account showing the scar from the bullet wound. Based on his comment, this appears to be one way he is coming to terms with the incident. Here is the caption Johnson wrote with his Instagram post:

“Me getting shot made me think different.
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the lord and their righteousness is of me, saith the lord.”

After the shooting, the New York Jets did not re-sign Johnson to the team. He has since been waiting for another NFL team to sign him during the summer. He may finally have his chance with the Arizona Cardinals after reportedly being offered a deal after he worked out for the team.

Johnson is coming off of the worst statistical year of his career that saw him post only 663 rushing yards and one touchdown while playing with the Jets. If the 29 year old running back really wants another shot in the NFL, he might consider taking whatever deal the Cardinals are offering.

As for Johnson’s scar, that should serve as a reminder to him each day how precious life is and that it can end in the blink of an eye.
