Steelers Sign Ben Roethlisberger to a New Contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday afternoon that they have come to an agreement on a new contract with franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The two-time Super Bowl champion was set to count $18.4 million against the cap in the final year of his contract this upcoming season.

There are currently no details on the financials of the extension, but we will update this article when those details are made available. Pittsburgh has called a press conference for 5 p.m. ET Friday evening.

In 11 seasons with Pittsburgh after it made Big Ben a first-round pick in 2004, the borderline Hall of Famer has put up over 39,000 passing yards with 251 touchdowns. In those 11 seasons, Roethlisberger has led Pittsburgh to the playoffs eight times, winning two Super Bowls in the process.

At 33 years old and with the frame of a truck, Big Ben appears to have some solid years ahead of himself. He put up a personal best 4,952 yards and 32 touchdowns en-route to leading Pittsburgh to a division title this past season.
