Pittsburgh Steelers Sign DeAngelo Williams

Former Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams announced on his Twitter account the he has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Williams, 31, spent his nine-year career with the Carolina Panthers before the team cut him just a couple of weeks ago. During his nine seasons in Carolina, Williams rushed for a total of 6,846 yards and scored 46 touchdowns. He also totaled 1,671 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns.

In the past, Williams has dealt with health issues and has only played four 16-game seasons during the course of his nine years. However, the Steelers will likely use Williams as a change of pace for Le’Veon Bell. That would make the veteran an ideal fit for Pittsburgh.

This is also an important signing, especially considering Bell could face up to a four-game suspension stemming from violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
