Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel apparently enjoys sitting on the bench in the NFL less than being the toast of the town at Texas A&M.
Imagine that.
Manziel had this to say to Cleveland.com about his transition to the National Football League (via NFL.com).
I don’t think I miss school, but I miss those guys in the locker room. I miss Coach Sumlin. I think it’s fair for me to say that I miss college life, but this is the decision that I made,” Manziel said, according to cleveland.com. “And I knew very well going into the draft last year that it was going to be different for me and going to be a time for me to grow up. That’s the path I chose. And if I wanted to stay in college and sleep in and go to class and horse around like I was doing the past couple years, then I should have stayed.
Let’s be honest here for a second. Who wouldn’t miss that life? The interesting thing here is that Manziel admitted to sleeping in and “horsing around” in college. It’s not necessarily a secret that the young quarterback enjoyed the partying that came with being a student-athlete at Texas A&M.
But I must say this wasn’t the college experience I had. Raise your hand if you were able to sleep in a lot and horse around in class while in college. That’s what I thought.
Now that Manziel has traded in his youth to be a professional in the NFL, the adjustment has to be real. Instead of being the toast of Cleveland, the rookie quarterback is holding a clipboard and is just one of 53 men on the roster. That in and of itself has to take some time to get accustomed to.
At the very least, he is admitting this.
