Sheldon Richardson has Some Words for Jets Fans

It wasn’t a pretty sight in New Jersey on Sunday afternoon as the New York Jets put up a horrendous offensive performance in a 24-17 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Jets quarterback Geno Smith would make things even worse by dropping an “F” bomb at a heckling fan on camera after the loss. While Smith would later apologize for his actions, this is what’s making news in New York…not a horrible all-around performance from a unit that turned the ball over two times en route to the home loss.

The reaction of Jets fans wasn’t lost on star defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson, who had this to say after the game (via NJ.com).

Shut up,” Richardson said. “If that’s the case, produce a child to make it to the NFL and then let’s see what he got. Other than that, just shut up. We’ve got coaches to do that.

At some point in the game, fans were even chanting for washed-up veteran Michael Vick. I have never been a fan of booing home players. And to be perfectly honest, a lot of Jets players deserve blame for this performance.

Richardson showed himself to be a leader by standing up for his quarterback. Good for him.
