Colin Kaepernick Makes Statement, Puts TMZ And Others On Blast

It didn’t take San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick too long to respond to what now seems to be a premature report of a sexual assault allegations against him by the gossip tabloid TMZ.

In a string of tweets on Friday morning, Kaepernick openly goes after the online publication…

In what was an ever-changing and unfolding story on Thursday, TMZ’s allegation that Kaepernick was being investigated by the Miami Police Department for a sexual assault was later refuted by the spokesperson for that very same police department.

What we do know is that an incident occurred at a Miami hotel in which a woman ended up in the hospital. Kaepernick along with teammate Quinton Patton and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette were accompanied by the woman and it appears that alcohol and marijuana were in some way involved. That’s about the extent of the story that we do know. Even then, there is no evidence that a crime was committed, at least to the Miami PD.

Earlier today, Sportsnaut published a piece that also put TMZ, among others sites, on blast for rushing to judgment. We stand by that story 100 percent and believe that responsibility in journalism must exist in order to gain the confidence of readers who are looking at us for unfiltered information.

Kaepernick’s statement is the latest indication that the Miami PD is not investigating the quarterback for a crime. If there were an ongoing investigation, Kaepernick would not be making a public statement as it relates to the situation. That much we do know.
