Lamarr Houston was the latest victim of what has been a rash of self-inflicted injuries during celebrations around the sports world in recent years. The defensive end tore his ACL after sacking New England quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The 27 year old is out for the remainder of the season.
Here are just a few other examples.
In 2012, Terrell Suggs tore his right Achilles playing basketball. Suggs later denied the rumor, telling ESPN that he “suffered the injury doing conditioning work.”

Earlier this season, Stephen Tulloch was celebrating when he mocked Aaron Rodgers’ famous “Discount Doublecheck.” Unfortunately, like Houston, he also suffered a torn ACL. No word on if Tulloch received the discount or not.
In 2012, San Francisco Giants’ pitcher Matt Cain threw a perfect game. Jumping over the dugout rail, Aubrey Huff sprained his knee.

In 2008, Adam Eaton (the pitcher, not the outfielder) stabbed himself in the stomach attempting to cut open the cellophane wrapper on a DVD (via MLB.com).

Sticking to baseball. According to Sports Illustrated, Kendrys Morales broke his leg stomping on home plate after a walk-off grand slam in 2010.
Glenn Healy, then of the Toronto Maple Leafs, suffered a hand injury in 2000 when he cut his bagpipes (you read that correctly, bagpipes) which resulted in a major gash in his thumb and required stitches. Considering this happened since he retired, he obviously didn’t miss any games. But it’s a little comical. Did you picture him, in front of a hockey net in a kilt? Because I did.

Florida Marlins’ Chris Coghlan tore his meniscus in his left knee while he gave teammate Wes Helms a pie to the face after a walk-off single.

David Price, then of the Tampa Bay Rays, injured his neck during a Spring Training game this season. How did he injure his neck, you might ask? He was simply “drying off his neck in between innings.”

Legendary NBA player Steve Nash injured his back this year while carrying bags. Yeah, that happened.

And in probably the most unfortunately hilarious self-inflicted injury of them all, former Washington Redskins quarterback Gus Frerotte sprained his neck after head-butting an end-zone wall following a touchdown. And yes, we have it in GIF form.

While Frerotte was able to play the next week, this is what defined an otherwise average NFL career.
