Joe Flacco questions Ravens’ confidence level following latest loss

Joe Flacco

The Baltimore Ravens have put up a grand total of 16 points over the past two games, finding themselves outscored by a combined 54 points during that span.

Following their latest loss, quarterback Joe Flacco singled himself out.

Now, as Baltimore prepares for its Week 5 game against the Oakland Raiders, Flacco still isn’t backing down from self-criticism.

“Listen, I’m going to put it on me every time as a quarterback of this football team,” Flacco said Wednesday, via ESPN. “That’s what it’s all about.”

That’s veteran leadership right there. Sure Flacco himself has been bad, but the rest of Baltimore’s offense has not found a way to pick up the slack. For Flacco, it all pretty much stems from a lack of confidence.

“I think our confidence level can be higher,” Flacco continued. “The way we’ve played the past couple of weeks can definitely creep in and hurt that.”

Despite the team’s two-game losing streak, Baltimore is just one game behind what seems to be a drama-riddled Pittsburgh Steelers squad in the AFC North. It also takes on a Raiders squad without Derek Carr on Sunday. That should present the Ravens with an opportunity to get it right.

But Flacco himself must improve in the process. He’s thrown four interceptions and fumbled once in the Ravens’ two-game losing streak. Should this continue, confidence itself will continue to drop for a Ravens offense that’s without a ton of truly elite players.
