Report: Tony Romo CBS broadcast debut August 25 covering Chiefs vs. Seahawks

Tony Romo

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been working hard to get his broadcasting skills up to snuff this summer. He did a mock broadcast during the Hall of Fame Game to open the preseason, and now we know when he’ll be front and center for his first real broadcast.

As reported by Bob Raissman of the New York Daily News, “On Friday, Aug. 25 Tony Romo’s new journey, which will bring as much scrutiny as the one that apparently has ended, begins taking shape when he debuts as CBS’ No. 1 NFL analyst working Chiefs-Seahawks.”

This is going to be fascinating for those who’ve followed Romo’s NFL career. He’s obviously a very knowledgeable guy, and sports broadcasting legend Al Michaels once gushed over Romo’s potential in this arena.

Still, being knowledgeable, personable and a former player doesn’t always equal success in this industry. And given his high profile, combined with the fact he pushed Phil Simms out of the booth, makes Romo a huge target for any and all criticism. If he makes a mistake, it’ll be amplified like crazy.

No doubt, Romo will have some pre-game jitters, not unlike what he must have felt before every NFL game he played.
