New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. wants to be the highest-paid player in the entire league. As lofty of an expectation as that is, team owner John Mara shared the club’s intention to take care of OBJ.

The Giants obviously aren’t going to make Beckham’s exact wish come true. But this report shows that the Giants are on top of the situation.  It’s clear the Giants will make their Hall of Fame-caliber receiver, a future offer that would lock him up with the team for years to come.

Beckham is slated to play out the final year of his rookie deal that pays him an average of just $2.6 million per year. New York also picked up the fifth-year option on said deal.

Beckham has produced at a high level since being drafted by the Giants 12th overall in 2014. During the course of 43 games, Beckham has tallied 288 catches, amounting to 4,122 yards and 35 touchdowns.

When the time comes to iron out an extension for Beckham, the dollar amount could launch him right into Antonio Brown pay territory. The Steelers made Brown, who now earns $17 million per year, the highest-paid at his position during the 2017 offseason.

It is possible Beckham could oust Brown from that status.
