Report: Knicks attempted to move Joakim Noah with Kristaps Porzingis

NBA Free agent, Joakim Noah

The New York Knicks have one of the most valuable trade assets in the entire NBA. Shockingly, president Phil Jackson and Co. put star forward Kristaps Porzingis on the trade block leading up to the draft this week.

While Porzingis wasn’t moved during the draft, there’s still a chance he could be traded this summer.

We already know that the Knicks are asking for a huge bounty in return for the 21-year-old forward.

Now comes this report from ESPN’s Ian Begley suggesting that the Knicks are deadset on including free agent bust Joakim Noah in any Porzingis-related trade.

As much as even entertaining the idea of a Porzingis trade makes absolutely no sense, including Noah would be reasonable. Here’s a guy that’s set to make $55-plus million over the next three seasons. If any team wants Porzingis bad enough, Noah’s contract would likely be one of the assets New York would trade off.

As it stands, there’s no real traction on the Porzingis front following the draft. That could surely change once free agency starts next month.
