Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle Doug Free has been a mainstay on the team’s offensive line over the past seven seasons, starting 107 of a possible 112 games during that span.
Over the course of the past couple seasons, there’s been rumors that Dallas might be looking to cut ties with the veteran. This is primarily due to his contract and the fact that Free moved to right tackle in order to make room for Tyron Smith at left tackle back in 2012.
Now, 33 years old and with a ton of tread on his tires, at least one report is indicating that Free is considering retirement.

That’s some pretty big news right there. Dallas has maintained the best offensive line in the NFL over the course of the past couple years. Losing Free to retirement would be rather big deal.
Though, it must be noted that the Cowboys feel internally that youngster La’el Collins is a fit to play right tackle moving forward. At the very least, they have an option should Free decide to retire.
Free has a cap hit of $7.5 million in 2017, all of which would be wiped from the books should he decide to hang it up.
