Gary Kubiak won’t rule out return to coaching

Health concerns forced Gary Kubiak into retirement. But the former Houston Texans and Denver Broncos head coach is not ready to completely rule out an NFL return.

Should Kubiak ever return, he’d likely have a job waiting for him. He’s younger than 10 current NFL head coaches and within a few years of several others. Given how successful coaches like Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll and Bruce Arians remain into their 60’s, age is not a concern.

Additionally, Kubiak’s record is strong. He’s reached the playoffs three times as a coach and notably won Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos. Overall, he has an 82-75 mark in the regular and 5-2 record in the playoffs. In his last five seasons as a coach, Kubiak’s mark is 45-32, even with a 2-11 season mixed in.

Kubiak’s primary concern should be his health. But a time may come when that’s no longer an issue. When that time comes, it’s hard to imagine him having a hard time returning to the NFL.
