Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri is human, after all. After making 44 straight field goals, an NFL record, he finally missed one Sunday.
The Colts were already up 21-0 over the Tennessee Titans in the second quarter when Vinatieri missed a 42-yard field goal attempt, breaking the streak.
Here’s our reaction to this news.
Adam Vinatieri actually missed a field goal, folks. Breaking a streak of 44 straight makes, an NFL record. #Colts #TENvsIND pic.twitter.com/CKgWKUX9ih

It really did happen, unfortunately.
Vinatieri’s streak of 44 straight makes puts him atop the all-time list by two. Mike Vanderjagt, also with the Colts, had the previous record of 42, and all-time great Gary Anderson made 40 in a row playing with the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings.
Hopefully the 43-year-old kicker continues to play well into his late 40s so we can continue to watch him work his magic and potentially set another record while he’s at it.
