In a surprising move, Gould was cut by the Bears right before the season began. It’s been one the Bears likely regret as well, because his replacement, Connor Barth, has been less than brilliant outside the 40-yard line.
A veteran of 11 previous NFL seasons, Gould has a career field-goal percentage of 85.4, making him the 10th-best in the history of the NFL.
He’ll have to get back into his form quickly after taking a plane over the Atlantic. The Giants are taking on the Los Angeles Rams at Wembley Stadium on Sunday morning in a game that starts at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Brown is likely facing a lengthy, if not indefinite suspension by the NFL — something head coach Ben McAdoo hinted at on Thursday.
The police investigation that became public information on Wednesday night turned up troubling alleged details about Brown’s treatment of his ex-wife, including an instance where he abused her in front of their daughter, Georgia.
