Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson allegedly assaults protester

Former NBA player and current Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson might be in some hot water.

Johnson reportedly tackled a protester to the ground and assaulted the subject after the mayor had pie thrown in his face during a dinner event in California’s capital city Wednesday evening.

The details are alarming.

Johnson allegedly tackled the protester to the ground after something was said between the two, reportedly punching the individual in the face “repeatedly.”

Hundreds of attendees were at the event, which enabled NBC Bay Area to cite multiple sources in concluding that Johnson himself did in fact commit an assault.

There’s definitely going to be more to this story, but it seems rather shocking at the surface.

Johnson, a former star at the University of California, played in the NBA for 13 seasons, earning three All-Star appearances in the process.

He’s held the officer of Mayor of Sacramento since 2008.
