Mishap with scissors forces Tom Brady to sit

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was expected to start the team’s preseason game against the Chicago Bears. When he was seen leaving the stadium in street clothes minutes before the game, it was obvious that something had changed.

What happened? Brady reportedly cut his right thumb with a pair of scissors.

“Apparently, Brady was trying to pry something from the bottom of his cleat prior to taking the field and sustained the cut,” per Tom E. Curran, CSN New England. “It’s not known whether the cut required stitches or how long the wound will put him on the sidelines. It is standard practice for the Patriots to let players who are not playing in preseason games to leave the stadium.”

It certainly seems plausible that this will hinder the remainder of Brady’s training camp and preseason. How much it will slow Brady’s preseason down remains to be seen.

The good news is that he has plenty of time to recover.

Thanks to his four-game suspension, Brady is not eligible for regular season play for nearly two months. He won’t be able to play in a regular season game until an October 9 showdown against the Cleveland Browns.
