Report: Arian Foster to sign with the Miami Dolphins

Former All Pro running back Arian Foster was slated for visits with both the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins this week.

Was is the operative word there, as it appears Foster is signing with Miami.

Foster, 29, is just two years removed from putting up a Pro Bowl performance for the Houston Texans.

Unfortunately for the four-time Pro Bowler, injuries have caught up to him big time. Foster missed the final 12 games of last season with a torn Achilles and has missed a total of 23 games over the past three years.

When healthy, Foster has proven himself to be among the most-productive running backs in recent history. He tallied nearly 1,600 total yards with 13 touchdowns in 13 games for the Texans back in 2014.

Foster’s best season came back in 2010 when he accumulated 2,220 total yards and 18 touchdowns en route to earning All Pro honors.

Miami seems to be the best possible fit for the veteran. The team lost Lamar Miller to Foster’s former Texans squad and doesn’t have anyone of real substance capable of shouldering the load.

Jay Ajayi has some upside in South Beach, but concerns over a preexisting knee condition saw him fall all the way to Miami in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Should Foster prove himself to be healthy, he will likely be in line to start for Miami once the regular season comes calling. That’s a big if based on his recent injury history.
