Report: Ex-Cowboys RB Joseph Randle charged with third felony

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle has reportedly been charged with a third felony while he awaits resolution on two previous felony charges.

This new charge stems from a threat Randle reportedly made during a stint in Sedgwick County jail this May while he was waiting court dates for his other two felony charges, the Wichita Eagle reports.

Randle was informed of the new charge Tuesday, which is one count of criminal threat. He was issued a $5,000 bond and was ordered to return on July 6 for another court date.

He was arrested for the sixth time in 17 months this past March, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed deep concern over his mental welfare when the franchise released Randle midway through the 2015 NFL season.

“I’m always concerned as to any issues regarding the [mental] health of a player,” Jones said in November last year, per SportsDay. “It’s a lot more serious than the football [injury] and that’s why he’s not dressed out.”

This is a sad case of someone who is clearly not in his right mind. Given what we know about brain trauma, one cannot help but wonder if Randle is a victim of CTE, which can cause the type of mental instability we’ve seen from him since he was busted stealing underwear and cologne back in 2014.
