Jaden Oberkrom retires two days after being claimed off waivers by Browns

NFL Teams

This is the most Cleveland Browns story ever. Just two days after being claimed off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars, kicker Jaden Oberkrom retired from football.

The Browns placed Oberkrom on the reserve/retired list on Friday, first reported by Dov Kleiman.

This leaves Cleveland with only Travis Coons, who wasn’t exactly bedazzling from distance last year as a rookie, going 7-for-9 on kicks between 40-49 yards and 0-for-2 on anything longer than 50.

Oberkrom was an undrafted free agent who signed on with the Jaguars after the draft. His tenure was short-lived in Jacksonville, and we as of yet don’t know why he retired. If he does come back, the Browns have his rights.

Perhaps he figures it’s just better to retire than to be associated with the Factory of Sadness.
