Brandon Marshall hasn’t talked to Jay Cutler in nearly two years

It was one of the strongest quarterback-wide receiver relationships in football. It started with both Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall putting up some huge numbers for the Denver Broncos.

And once Marshall was traded to the Chicago Bears shortly after Cutler found himself in the Windy City, this relationship seemed to be reignited.

Unfortunately, the two seemed to have a falling out during a couple lean years in Chicago — a situation that led to Marshall being traded to the New York Jets prior to the 2015 season.

The always entertaining Marshall appeared on the Rich Eisen Show recently, answering questions about his relationship with Cutler in the process:

“So for years, everyone considered us brothers. And he is my brother,” the wide receiver said. “But we haven’t talked in almost two years.”

If you are confused by Marshall’s timeline, you aren’t alone. Considering the two played together with the Chicago Bears last season (less than 24 months ago), we have to wonder whether Marshall and Cutler were on speaking terms during their final year together.

The positive thing here is that both Marshall and Cutler had a certain level of success without one another this past regular season. Marshall put up 109 receptions for 1,502 yards and a career-high 14 touchdowns with the Jets.

Meanwhile, Cutler had his best statistical season under first-year Bears head coach John Fox.

In terms of whether these two enigmatic personalities will ever suit up together again, well that seems pretty much out of the question.
