Report: Chargers, Rams pairing gaining momentum; Jaguars are top St. Louis replacement

It seems inevitable that an NFL franchise will relocate to Los Angeles, and the possibility of two teams—including the San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders or St. Louis Rams—moving has been explored, too.

However, according to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, the pairing gaining the most steam among NFL owners for an L.A.-based duo is the Chargers and Rams.

Cole notes that St. Louis—which is determined to keep the Rams, while team owner Stan Kroenke is determined to relocate—wouldn’t necessarily be losing an NFL team for a long time.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, who have constantly been labeled a franchise that could move—perhaps to London—are the “top solution” to replace the Rams.

Granted, none of this is definite. Cole used “think” and “idea” in the updates, so be sure to remember that the speculation is legitimate and well-sourced but not the clear-cut plan.

The NFL seems hell-bent on moving a team to the Los Angeles area, and owners appear unwilling to support Oakland’s potential move until the ownership has deeper pockets—or at least no longer in the Davis family.

Considering all the twists, turns and mandated steps involving this storyline, an official announcement of which team or teams are heading to Los Angeles might not arrive for another year or more.

When it does, though, football fans might see the Rams and Chargers sharing a stadium, Jacksonville packing up for St. Louis and the Raiders remaining the odd franchise out.
