This is no way for the Buffalo Bills to start a season in which they’re looking to make the playoffs for the first time since the Clinton Administration.
According to Jason La Canfora over at CBS Sports, head coach Doug Marrone got into a heated verbal spat with multiple members of the organization on the practice field just recently.
Tension between Bills coach Doug Marrone and the team’s front office spilled over recently in a loud verbal altercation on the practice field between the head coach and several team officials, according to numerous sources with knowledge of the situation, punctuating what had been a tumultuous preseason for the franchise as it awaits word on new ownership.
Apparently the altercation turned into a profanity-laced shouting match between Marrone and the team’s director of player personnel Jim Monos. La Canfora goes on to report that part of the argument surrounded a difference of opinion on the likes of Cyrus Kouandjio, Robert Woods and Kraig Urbik, all of whom the player personnel department seem to be higher on than Marrone.
According to La Canfora, Marrone has clashed with some players on the team this summer as well.
Marrone has also clashed with some players this offseason, most frequently linebacker Jerry Hughes, team sources said, and has made comments around the team which have drawn the ire of some players.
This has to be alarming to a team that has not earned a trip to the playoffs since 1999 and is struggling to find an identity under the second-year head coach. The Bills are also on the verge of being sold, which could play into the animosity between certain members of the organization.
