Report: Ravens Knew Details of Ray Rice Video Immediately After Incident

In what could very well be some damning pieces of information being reported by ESPN, the Baltimore Ravens potentially knew about the Ray Rice casino video mere hours after he knocked his then fiancee Janay Palmer unconscious back in February.

Despite continual denials from those within the Ravens organization, an investigative report by  Don Van Natta Jr. and Kevin Van Valkenburg of ESPN suggests that the organization received a play-by-play of the video from a police officer at the casino in question.

Just hours after running back Ray Rice knocked out his then-fiancée with a left hook at the Revel Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the Baltimore Ravens’ director of security, Darren Sanders, reached an Atlantic City police officer by phone.

While watching surveillance video — shot from inside the elevator where Rice’s punch knocked his fiancée unconscious — the officer, who told Sanders he just happened to be a Ravens fan, described in detail to Sanders what he was seeing. Sanders quickly relayed the damning video’s play-by-play to team executives in Baltimore.

This doesn’t fit with the information that the Ravens organization has relayed to the media in the past few weeks since TMZ released the video of Ray Rice beating up his current wife. This started the entire scandal that has plagued the NFL since and culminated in a press conference by commissioner Roger Goodell to address domestic violence in the league on Friday afternoon.

The report continues…

Outside the Lines interviewed more than 20 sources over the past 11 days — team officials, current and former league officials, NFL Players Association representatives and associates, advisers and friends of Rice — and found a pattern of misinformation and misdirection employed by the Ravens and the NFL since that February night.

If this is true, Goodell and the Ravens have even more to answer to. While this report doesn’t indicate that powers to be within the NFL and the Ravens organization saw the video, it does go to show you that they knew the full details of what transpired during that disturbing incident.

According to the report, shortly after the Ravens decided to release Rice, owner Steve Bisciotti sent a couple text messages to the embattled former running back.

Hey Ray, just want to let you know, we loved you as a player, it was great having you here. Hopefully all these things are going to die down. I wish the best for you and Janay.

When you’re done with football, I’d like you to know you have a job waiting for you with the Ravens helping young guys getting acclimated to the league.

I am actually at a complete loss of words here.

Here is a brief recap of the report.

It would be in your best interest to read the entire report which was just released on ESPN’s website. It shows a continued effort by the Ravens organization and the NFL to cover up and mislead the public about what actually happened that night and its knowledge of the situation prior to TMZ releasing the damning video earlier this month.
